Chasing SG Greatness
En route to his T2 finish at the Masters and win at the PGA Championship,
Brooks Koepka gained a cumulative 34.4 strokes over the field.
If he maintains this torrid pace he would reach 68.8 strokes gained over the four Major Championship
fields—good enough for the 4th best Major SG total since 1983.
Here are some of our favorite nuggets from the list:
Tiger's 2002 Major season is the 3rd best of all-time but includes the worst individual
round in the entire table—a third round 81 (-5.8 strokes-gained) at Muirfield.
Ernie Els (2004; +60.4), Rory McIlroy (2022; +58.5) and Rickie Fowler (2015; +58.4) have
the three highest cumulative strokes-gained in a Major season without notching a win.
Jordan Spieth in 2015. That is all.
